Dr. McGregor N. Lott has been practicing ophthalmology for nearly 15 years. He completed his undergraduate degree in history at Yale University and then went on to complete his Doctorate at the Medical College of Georgia in 2002. He accepted his fellowship there with the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia. As part of this research fellowship, Dr. Lott studied the use of a retinal drug under the supervision of the reputable Dennis M. Marcus, MD.
Dr. Lott accepted a medical internship from 2003 to 2004 in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, followed by his residency in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia.
In 2007, Dr. Lott relocated to Florida where he became licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine. He then accepted a fellowship in Medical Retina at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, where he remained until 2008. He went on to become certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2009 and continues to provide excellent ophthalmology services to patients in Florida. Dr. Lott joined Florida Eye Specialists after working for Mayo Clinic in his hometown of Waycross, Georgia for 9 years. He has earned a reputation as a compassionate, skilled doctor who goes out of his way to make sure his patients are comfortable and understand every aspect of their eye health.
Dr. Lott has received a number of special awards throughout his career, including his most recent award in 2016 through Leadership Georgia. Dr. Lott was selected as one of 63 (out of 700 applicants) to participate in a special program that was designed to prepare leaders in the eye care industry for development and advancement.
Dr. Lott had the honor of being selected to participate in the 2013 Georgia Physician Leadership Academy, which was sponsored by the Medical Association of Georgia and allowed him to partake in a variety of interactive learning sessions.
Between 2012 and 2015, Dr. Lott was also honored to receive the Avatar Excellent Award, a coveted designation that is given only to ophthalmologists who receive patient satisfaction ratings above the 90th percentile each year.
