Benjamin Wilke, MD

Dr. Benjamin K. Wilke, M.D., FAAOS is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in adult reconstruction and orthopedic oncology, with particular expertise in primary and revision hip and knee replacement. He frequently utilizes advanced techniques such as the direct anterior approach for total hip replacement and robotic-assisted partial and total knee procedures to enhance precision and recovery. Patients with hip pain benefit from a comprehensive evaluation that prioritizes non-surgical care first, then minimally invasive hip surgery when appropriate, including minimally invasive total hip replacement designed to reduce pain and support rapid healing.

Focused on hip and knee arthritis, bone and soft-tissue tumors, metastatic disease, limb salvage, and amputee care, Dr. Wilke provides comprehensive, patient-centered treatment plans that prioritize function, mobility, and a faster return to daily life.

Dr. Wilke earned a B.S. in Integrative Physiology with honors and distinction from the University of Iowa, then graduated cum laude from Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where he received multiple academic awards and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, serving as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Oncology at the University of Florida.

He then joined the faculty at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, mentoring residents and fellows, advancing to Associate Professor, and helping launch an outpatient total joint program while developing an osseointegration practice for amputees. These initiatives reflect his commitment to innovative joint reconstruction and complex oncologic limb preservation.

An active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Wilke has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, presented nationally and internationally, and has been recognized among the most published and cited orthopedic clinicians by Doximity as well as noted in 2024 as a top orthopedic surgeon in Florida.

Dr. Benjamin K. Wilke is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon focused on adult reconstruction and orthopedic oncology. He cares for patients across Northeast Florida, including Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Augustine, St. Johns County, and Nocatee. His practice emphasizes primary and revision hip and knee replacement with modern techniques, including the direct anterior approach for total hip replacement and robotic-assisted partial and total knee procedures that support accuracy and recovery. If hip pain limits walking, sleep, or daily activities, he offers targeted non-operative treatments and, when needed, minimally invasive hip surgery that aims for rapid healing and a timely return to life.
