Dr. Katie Sawaya has worked in the audiology field for over 12 years. She obtained her Master’s Degree from the University of Auckland in New Zealand and her Doctorate from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She has worked as an Audiologist in New Zealand, with both adults and children prior to taking a lead pediatric position in Bristol, England where she helped run the newborn hearing screening program.
Dr. Sawaya moved to Jacksonville, Florida working at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care on the cochlear implant team as well as leading the ENT/Audiology research program. She has a strong interest in pediatrics, electrophysiology, hearing research, hearing aids and cochlear implants. Dr. Sawaya has been involved in teaching and presenting at local universities as well as at international conferences on both cochlear implants and hearing aids.
