Dr. Childers was born in Rochester, New York and was raised in Gainesville,
Florida. He is a true “Gator” at heart and actively supports his alma mater. Dr.
Childers received his Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania,
graduating with high honors before attending and receiving his Doctor of Medicine
from the University of Florida. Dr. Childers is a board-certified General Surgeon
with the American Board of Surgery and is the President of Surgical Associates of
Central Florida, PA where he currently has been practicing for the last 25 years.
Dr. Childers is also the Clinical Clerkship Director with the Surgery Department at
Florida State University College of Medicine and has held this position since 2003,
was AdventHealth Orlando’s Medical Director for the Single Site General Surgery
Robotic Program for many years, and now assists in the AdventHealth General
Surgery Resident Clinical Training.
Dr. Childers is actively involved in his three grown children’s lives. He is a
swimmer, a golfer, works out, and enjoys a game of basketball when time allows
